Shangri-La to spend P512M for expansion
By Ayen Infante 07/12/2007 Major hotel and resort developer Shangri-La Hotel and Resort Inc. (Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, Manila) proposed to engage in two expansion projects that will involve the construction of additional accommodation facilities and wellness areas worth a total of P512 million. The first project will involve the modernization of its Garden Wing and the Horizon Club Lounge with a combined total of 192 rooms. This will involve the renovation and complete refurbishing of the existing rooms and lounges. It is allocating P385.63 million for the renovation of this area located at the Garden Wing portion of the facility. The Garden Wing carries a tropical paradise theme with its own private check-in offering special amenities such as in-room pay-per-view movies and in-room facsimile and private line. It will also spend for the improvement of the Horizon Club Lounge that comprises the top three executive floors of the same wing. The area is an exclusive retreat that offers a higher standard of accommodation, personalized services for hotel guests. The project is expected to be completed this month, generating jobs for 42 workers. The company also proposed to spend P126.5 million more for the construction of 10 treatment rooms broken down into 2 couple suites with hydro room and outdoor terrace area; 2 single suites, and 6 single rooms with bathing tub. The wellness and health areas will offer the signature “chi” therapies that will target the high-end market. Another spa facility to be put up is the so-called New Holistic Life Enhancement with kinesis equipment free-motion studio for yoga, breathing and lifestyle classes, and hand and foot care suite room. The proposed project was granted tax holidays by the BOI with a commitment to create 34 new jobs starting this month.  Back to top
