PSE lights up on-time electronic trade board
By Earl Paolo Jaculbe 05/08/2008 The Philippine Stock Exchange and Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd., unveiled yesterday the PSE-Insular electronic display system along Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas. The electronic display system is the first of its kind in the country and in the Southeast Asian region. It features real-time stock market news and information similar to that at the New York’s Time Square. PSE president Francis Lim said they hope to bring the stock market closer to commuters and ordinary people. Insular Life chairman and CEO Vicente Ayllon said this technological innovation is another step toward their vision of a more alive and vibrant business environment. Daktronics ProAd Electronic Display System is a top-of-the-line Light Emitting Diode (LED) strip display, the latest product of system provider Globatronics. The electronic billboard, mounted on the facade of the Insular Life building in Makati, measures 30 meters across and 1.5 meters high. It can display up to 4.3 trillion color shades, capable of showing high definition videos, graphics and animation, and is fully programmable. It can also automatically adjust its brightness to cope with bright sunlight and to avoid distracting motorists at night. The electronic billboard will run the PSE ticker tape, disclosures, stock market information and carry trading highlights during trading hours. It will also carry breaking news, corporate and technology news, traffic and weather advisories and public service announcements after PSE hours. Motorists and pedestrians can view all this information from 6 a.m. to midnight. The P45-million project is a joint undertaking of the PSE, Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd., Globe Telecom and Globaltronics. Back to top
