Past their seasons

The communist movement’s recent threats bared its total disconnect with the Filipino people and at the same time exposed either their duplicity or that lines between the local rebels and Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison are non-existent.
Sison in a message in his comfortable abode in Utrecth, Netherlands issued a wish that President Duterte reactivates the peace process with the CPP-New People’s Army (NPA)-National Democratic Front (NDF).
The CPP which Sison claims to lead, however, stated during its 49th anniversary last December 26 that it will join the plot to overthrow Rody this year.
The yellow mob is having a hard time in scheming alone for the ouster of Rody which has been its goal after its candidate Mar Roxas miserably lost despite a lot of help from the automated poll system.
Rody, whether out of his being a political strategist or out of an earnest desire to end the communist insurgency, courted the commies with unprecedented offers of seats in his Cabinet and the release of top communist prisoners.
The peace negotiations helped in assuring a smooth first year in his term despite constant potshots from the yellow mob and its foreign cohorts as Rody tackled the most difficult task of ridding the streets of crime.
Rody predicated all his administration policies on the anti-crime campaign indicating that all will follow, including a stable economic environment.
The country now is drawing in investments which was the main ingredient lacking in the growth story mainly as a result of a perceived improvement in public order.
The CPP failed to match the goodwill Rody had extended and even asked for the moon in demanding the release of all its cadres under detention.
Rody said that he risks inciting a military uprising if he accedes to the commies’ demands. Negotiations, thus, became useless with the outrageous demands of the rebels and its sneaky attacks on state forces to boot.
Last Nov. 23, Rody signed Proclamation 360 that terminated the peace talks. Eleven days later on Dec. 5, he also issued Proclamation 374 declaring the CPP-NPA as terrorist organizations.
Now the CPP said it is seeking to “resist and fight” the Duterte administration while Sison was advising that Rody “should return to the negotiating table” this year.
“He should allow the GRP (Government of the Republic of the Philippines) and NDFP (National Democratic Front of the Philippines) panels to work out the comprehensive agreements on social, economic and political reforms to lay the basis for a just and lasting peace,” he said with thick sarcasm.
While Sison was baiting for peace, the CPP issued a statement that the Filipino people are confronted with the Duterte regime’s fascist tyranny, all-out war and headlong push toward a fascist dictatorship under the guise of a fake federal setup.
It encouraged members of the rebel movement to continuously go deep “among the people and rousing them to resist and wage all forms of struggle against the fascist tyranny.”
Sison appeared to have been past his season in making his dogmas appealing to even his supposed followers in the communist insurgency due to the different path taken by both.
Sison’s forked tongue, offering the olive branch of peace while holding a dagger on his other hand should make Filipinos wary of whatever he utters.
Even Rody believed in the genuine principles of social equality being fought for by the rebels and Filipinos, as reflected in the high support rating on him, trust that he is moving toward those unfulfilled goals.
The term CPP-NPA-NDF with the components of so-called legal and underground entities within the group is already an obvious mark of skulduggery.
