Clusivol Power C donates to Gawad Kalinga
12/16/2007 Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, through its brand Clusivol Power C, donated vitamin C supplements to Gawad Kalinga (GK) as part of the company’s Power Proteksyon project. Part of its commitment of caring for the health of Filipinos, the project aims to contribute in making the lives of the less fortunate become healthier by providing millions worth of Clusivol Power C to different foundation and non-profit organizations. According to Edwin Kuizon, marketing director of Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, the company believes in the cause of helping out the community as part of its advocacy of caring for children’s health. “We wanted to tap an organization with an infrastructure to do the dissemination quickly. We have very high respect for GK for all the projects that they are doing and the integrity that surrounds GK,” he added. GK is a Philippine-based movement that envisions building 700,000 homes in 7,000 communities in seven years through its GK 777 campaign with 2010 as the target date for delivery. Together with its partners, GK is in the process of transforming poverty-stricken areas thus empowering the citizens to strive for an improved quality of life. GK is about total community development and total mobilization in the communities. It also has components in health, education, productivity and livelihood based on fundamental values, primarily Christian values. There is big need for health care delivery programs in the countryside. It is through GK’s health program, Gawad Kalusugan, that primary healthcare is implemented among the GK communities. Through Gawad Kalusugan, GK can also supplement and complement the work of the government of providing healthcare for the poor by doing surgical and medical missions. GK received P2 million worth of Clusivol Power C 60-ml bottles. The donation will augment Gawad Kalusugan’s ongoing health programs and medical missions. “Wyeth is already doing a very good job of providing assistance in GK projects. The vitamin supplementation is vital in the success of our ongoing nutritional program,” said Dr. Jose Yamamoto, GK board member and International Director for Give Care Health Foundation — the health arm of Couples for Christ. Vitamin supplements will be distributed during GK’s various programs targeted at young beneficiaries. The remainder of the donation will be distributed to the GK sites. Clusivol Power C is keen on establishing sustainable partnerships with various groups to ensure a better health condition for the Filipino people. Back to top
