NBDB marks World Book, Copyright Day at FHL
04/06/2008 The National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Filipinas Heritage Library (FHL) join the worldwide celebration of books and literature on April 23 to commemorate World Book and Copyright Day. The NBDB will sponsor a whole-day affair at the Filipinas Heritage Library. Activities will include conversations with established writers of Philippine Literature who will talk about why they write; discussions about the importance of innovativeness and creativity in nation-building; and lectures about copyright issues relevant to both owners and users. Representatives from reprographic rights organizations (RRO’s) will also discuss the importance of remuneration in fostering creative in the book industry. The World Book and Copyright Day is a worldwide celebration spearheaded by the Unesco to promote reading, publishing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright. The NBDB invites everyone to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed appreciation for the irreplaceable contributions of books to the social and cultural progress of our nation by participating in this event.
