Hog raisers’ to hold convention in Cebu City on April 24
04/20/2008 Thousands of hog raisers all over the country will gather on April 24-26 at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City, Cebu for the 17th Annual Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits of the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. (NFHFI). The theme of this year’s convention is “Enhancing Pork Production for the Export Market” and is hosted by the Cebu Association of Meat & Poultry Products Multi-Purpose Cooperative, headed by its chairman, Pluy Ong. NFHFI President Albert Lim Jr. said the annual event aims to help promote and protect the interests of the country’s hog farmers. He added the gathering also serves as a venue to enhance the opportunities for growth, efficiency, equity and sustainability of the P120-billion hog industry. The convention will feature a series of seminars on swine management and production, and the eradiation of common swine diseases. It will also feature a live hog exhibit. Convention Chairman Edwin Chen said Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap will be the keynote speaker and guest of honor during the convention. He said the trade exhibit will have about 120 booths which will showcase the latest veterinary products and innovative equipment that can assist hog farmers in increasing their productivity. The hog convention and trade exhibit is open to the public, free of charge. The 17th Annual Hog Convention and Trade Exhibition is sponsored by: Robina Agri Partners, UNIVET, Broadchem Corp, Hypig Genetics, National Swine Registry USA, Alltech Biotechnology Corp., Pfizer Animal Health and San Miguel Animal Health.
