BandIABETES: A concert for a cause

07/20/2008

A group of veteran and budding artists, led by Papa Dom of Tropical Depression and Chikoy Pura of the Jerks, will be holding a benefit concert for a diabetes-afflicted human rights activist.

Noel Evangelista was a volunteer for the Initiatives for International Dialogue, a human rights organization that has put East Timorese and Burmese peoples’ struggles to the Filipino consciousness.

Diagnosed to have Chronic Kidney Disease stage IV and Diabetes Mellitus Nephropathy, Noel is likely certain to undergo dialysis in the next few months. He’s had to stop work in the institution since 2006 due to severe bouts with the disease.

To help Noel and their family, the University of the East Kapit-bisig Alumni Association will be holding a benefit concert on Aug. 7 at Access Point Bar located along Sct. Borromeo corner Tomas Morato Extension in Quezon City.

Other bands who volunteered their talents for the cause are Jess Santiago, Mirahel Band, The Gentries, Workshop, Babes of Tambisan, Bandang Choyz and many more.

For ticket reservation, contact Jun Lopez (0927) 694-4640, Ed Cunanan (0922) 283-9961, Jedi Pronto (0920) 918-0659 or log on at www.uekapitbisig.org.
