Gloria’s credibility sinks, only 13% say Sona truthful

Palace: Don’t judge, listen to speech first

2008/07/25

President Arroyo’s credibility has sunk very low with a Pulse Asia Survey released to media yesterday showing that while 60 percent are aware of the yearly state of the nation, a plurality of 46 percent said her Sona will not be truthful. Only 13 percent stated that they believe Mrs. Arroyo’s Sona will be truthful. Forty one percent remained undecided.

Respondents who do not believe Mrs. Arroyo will be truthful in her eighth Sona expressed “skepticism” and “outright disbelief.”

The President’s low credibility rating with regard to the Sona, serves a validation to an earlier Social Weather Stations survey pointing to her deep plunge in public satisfaction rating, which earned her a net r.. Full Story »»»

Fair assessment

Whenever Gloria gets that First World in 20 years fit, she spews out supposed proof that her government had laid the foundation for the country’s destiny to become an industrialized nation in two decades.

While no one takes her seriously — except those who have something to gain by forcing themselves to believe her, the usual question that follows is why the country remains a laggard in a region.. Full Story »»»

The Philippine mission that headed to Okinawa, Japan last week to look into the case of a Filipino woman who was allegedly raped by a US soldier yesterday said it found her allegations true and that “the Philippine government had been sorely remiss in providing her adequate and proper assistance.”

Wireless and beautiful

If you’re one of the many who lug around their bulky laptops anywhere they go, then you’d find comfort (and respite) in one of Acer’s newest offerings: the all-new, Internet-centric Acer Aspire One.

Granted it’s really small — maybe smaller than your average notebook — and weighs less than one kilo, but this baby not only gives any laptop a run for its money, it also introduces a whole new meaning to the words “chic mobility.”

Dainty as it may look, the Aspire One provides snappy Inte.. Full Story »»»

Philippine sports sick, says PSC’s Ramirez

UGLY PROGNOSIS

Not even the ideal backdrop of peace and harmony could deny the state of Philippine sports, and it remains the sickest man in the region that Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez wants to give time to convalesce before we could even dream of winning an Olympic gold medal.

“Philippine sports is sick,” was Ramirez’s prognosis yesterday, even claiming results of various programs introduced by the National Sports Associations (NSA) have lagged in comparison wit.. Full Story »»»
