Splash hosts dinner to mark Myanmar foray

Splash Corp., one of the country’s leading personal care products and fast-moving consumer goods companies, recently held a cocktail dinner at the Sofitel Hotel in honor of some visiting delegates headed by Myanmar Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin.
The welcome dinner was hosted by Splash Corp. chairman and CEO Dr. Rolando Hortaleza, with members of the Splash board and Splash executives also in attendance.
The Minister led a delegation to attend the recently concluded Philippines-Myanmar Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation.
During his visit to the country, Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin met with President Aquino and was congratulated by the President on the significant steps achieved by Myanmar toward reform and democratization.
While the event was primarily a social and cultural affair, the gathering also had a business agenda as it marked the official announcement of Splash’s foray into Myanmar, one of the burgeoning economies in the Southeast Asian region.
The black-tie affair was attended by dignitaries led by officials of the Philippine government and the Myanmar Embassy, including Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Undersecretary of Education Rizalino Rivera, Myanmar Ambassador to the Philippines U Aung Khin Soe, and Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Hellen de la Vega. Also present were top Philippine business executives, including Jose Antonio, Chairman of Century Properties.
Prior to the event, a dinner was also hosted by Dr. Hortaleza Hortaleza at his residence to welcome the Chairman of the Board of The Dagon Group of Companies, Win Aung.
The Dagon Group is one of Myanmar’s biggest business conglomerates and Splash Corp.’s Partner in Myanmar. The by-invitation intimate dinner was likewise attended by a group of select businessmen, bankers and dignitaries.
