Hope springs thru SMC
Just six months after typhoon “Sendong” brought untold destruction to the provinces of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Negros Oriental, conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has turned over 897 newly-constructed houses to families displaced by massive flooding in CDO and Iligan. The houses form part of SMC’s P500-million donation to build 5,000 homes for flood victims in all three provinces — said to be the largest corporate social responsibility (CSR) undertaking in the country. To date, 1,013 housing units have been completed while 862 more are under construction. The company said it expects to turn over all 5,000 homes by end of this year.
Western Union releases $20,000 grant

Philippine non-profit organization AWECA Foundation Inc. (AFI), became the first recipient of a grant program to fund livelihood skills training program in the Philippines as part of a $100,000 commitment by Western Union to commemorate the company’s 500,000th agent locations globally.
PNB opens Tandang Sora branch
Philippine National Bank (PNB) recently opened its newest branch at Tandang Sora, Quezon City. PNB Tandang Sora Branch was established to serve the banking needs of business establishments and adjoining residential communities in the area. The branch is strategically located at San Miguel Village, Pasong Tamo, Tandang Sora making it very accessible to the banking public. The branch boasts of a new and modern look providing a comfortable and enjoyable banking experience to its clients.
