The National government debt increased to P7.1 billion after the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) fully awarded all tendered bids for 91-day and 182-day but rejected small portion for 364-day Treasury bills (T-bills) at yesterday’s auction.
The BTr awarded P1 billion for 91-day T-bills, P2.5 billion for 182-day and P3.6 billion for 364-day.
Coupon rate for 91-day T-bills decreased further since the last T-bills auction two weeks ago at 1.495 percent.
The last coupon rate for the tenor was 1.8 percent. For 182-day, coupon rate was 1.795 percent. For 364-day, it was 2.422 percent.
National Treasurer Roberto Tan said yesterday’s awarded bids have been expected weeks ago as these were the program amount to be accepted.
The rejected amount for 364-day was so small and are deemed insignificant to the auction, said a source at the Department of Finance.
