Still kicking the can

Noynoy is certainly not only patting himself on his back but also seems to be claiming the divine right to compel who his successor should be — someone like him, or so he strongly implies.
At a business forum where he was guest speaker, Noynoy claimed that he chose to be a person of integrity and a problem solver, instead of passing those problems to his successor.
He chose not to be one who “kicks the can down the road,” which is the politically prudent thing to do, implying that he is a person of integrity, which translates to being his being a “person of foresight” as he  does not pass on the problem to someone else when he can solve it himself.
Said he: “I am faced with a choice: I can just kick the can down the road, and let the next set of leaders deal with this problem. After all, the politically prudent thing to do would be to not rattle the cage, to not make any noise about something that is, at the moment, not yet an issue.”
He then added that he hopes his successor will be adding to the culture of integrity that his administration is building today.
“I hope that whoever stands on this podium in the future will be a person of foresight; someone who will not kick the can down the road; someone who will solve problems; someone who will fortify the culture of integrity that we are building now,” he said.
It certainly looks like his ghost writers and Noynoy himself, are now creating a different image of him; that of a perfect leader whose successor can never expect to fill his shoes, except that it really doesn’t jell with his real image. Still, the Noynoy administration is run via yellow propaganda and he appears to believe that propaganda will get him through the next three years in office.
Foresight, Noynoy does not have. If he did, he would not have created this huge problem with China over the disputed islands — which is just one of the many instances where his claimed foresight is clearly lacking. If he had foresight, the bloody hostage massacre would not have ended that way.
As for being a problem solver, not too long ago, it was he who had told the media that there were at least two or more Cabinet secretaries  whom he always was reluctant to talk with when they came to his office because, as he then said, all they bring him are problems while others whom he named, were always welcome because they never brought up problems, but solved them.
Now he says he has foresight and a problem solver?
As for his claim of being the person who does not kick the can along the road, and leave the problems for his successor to solve, surely he must realize, given his penchant for continuous borrowings from abroad as well as his huge budget deficit, that he would precisely be handing down these debt problems to his successor, who will have to deal with these problems.
The reality is that Noynoy has created more and more problems for the next president to solve.
The democratic institutions have been destroyed by Noynoy who has, instead of strengthening these democratic institutions, weakened them, perhaps even irreparably.
He has suceeded in prostituting too many government agencies and other offices that are co-equal and independent vis-a-vis the executive branch.
Whoever succeeds him can also put his own people in such constitutional offices and continue prostituting these offices.
How can Noynoy claim to be a person of integrity and honesty when he resorts to bribing the members of Congress to do as he wills them, such as having Congress impeach an Ombudsman and a Chief Justice, as his vindictiveness knows no bounds? Dosn’t he realize that he, who criticizes Gloria Arroyo at every turn, is doing that which he criticizes?
How can he even dare claim to be a transparent person when he gives himself a lump sum budget to dispense with as his pork barrel--an item in the budget that CoA has recomended to be cut off?
How can he claim to be a person of integrity when he chooses to protect his KKKs to the hilt while only going after his foes?
He can puff himself up while he sits in Malacañang. But after he leaves, the problems he has created will be the problems of his successor as Noynoy has kicked the can along the way too many times.
