Vatican TV Center picks Clear-Com Eclipse, Temptest2400 for HD OB van

The Centro Televisivo Vaticno (Vatican Television Center), the official broadcaster of Vatican City, recently selected Clear-Com products in covering all the official endeavors of Pope Benedict XVI as well as all the events and services to be held at the Vatican. With the selection of (4) Eclipse-Median, (6) I-Series intercom panels, (2) Tempest BaseStations and (4) Tempest BeltStations, CTV broadcasts will gain swift access to unswerving, high-quality communications.
Centro Televisivo Vaticano has broadcast the Pope’s pastoral ministry and other activities of the Holy See since 1983. CTV covers about 200 events from inside the Vatican as well as during the Pope’s travel around Italy and abroad. CTV’s footage is picked up via satellite and used by broadcasters and news agencies worldwide. Having no production studio, CTV uses the new OB van, which has full HD capability, as the central hub for the essential operations of the network. Its four areas include an audio room, equipment room, primary and secondary production control with VTR and camera control.
In a recent interview with Karlie Miles, Director of EMEA Sales, Clear-Com, she stated “The combination of Eclipse digital matrix with V-Series panels and Tempest2400 gives CTV a tremendous amount of communications flexibility, making it much less stressful to manage the broadcasting of the Pope’s ministry.” She also said that Clear-Com has certainly proven to function flawlessly during critical situations. The signal transmitted from the Tempest2400 wireless intercom system will easily penetrate the thick walls of the church and can travel far distances to the van.
