The circus is in town. I am not only talking about Cirque du Soleil, but also about the carnival-themed Psychedelicious, the latest chapter in the brand story of Japan-based cosmetics company for the young and the young at heart, Majolica Majorca.
Cathy David, brand manager for Majolica Majorca Philippines, said Psychedelicious is one of the biggest collections they launched in the country after the Sleeping Beauty-like Fake Sleeping. “Psychedelicious is inspired by the feeling of like walking inside a candy store with all its colors and scents,” she explains.
Somewhat a cross between psychedelic and delicious, Psychedelicious is a world of swirls, polka dots, stripes, patterns and anything but monotone. “Candied neon” pervades the collection’s color palette, with a sprinkling of gold and glitter. The different colors are like treats to the senses, David enthuses.
The brand’s bestseller, Honey Pump Gloss, goes on a limited-edition neon Bilberry Jam tone. Its formulation of acacia honey, royal jelly extract and beeswax claim to make lips look wet, plump and moisturized. Also available for a limited run is the new Popping Shower Powder, which allegedly acts like pearls that shimmer when smoothed over décolleté, arms and legs.
Besides the brand’s signature “liquid paper” white nail polish, the collection introduces holographic violet glitter as nail color. Puff de Cheeks blush, which comes in a macaroon-inspired tin can packaging, is available in raspberry and cherry, colors as soft as cotton candy.
While the blush provides softness, the collection’s mascaras and eyeliners offer new technologies in definition. Lash King Mascara boasts of its Acrobat Catch Brush, which lengthens eyelashes to flush the need for false eyelashes and lash extensions. The collection’s new Brow and Lash Colorist is said to be unique to the brand as its brownish undertone matches not only makeup but also hair color.
A defining liner in a new cocoa tone, the waterproof Cream Pencil Liner is made of cream so it glides effortlessly like pencil but draws up sharp lines like liquid eyeliner.
With these innovations, Majolica Majorca promises to do into the face what a circus can do to the senses — make it pop with fun and life.
Majolica Majorca is exclusively available in leading SM Department Stores and Watsons outlets.
