Calming spaces by the coast

Residential coastal living puts an end to the compromise between modern ideals and nature's bountyHow does one design an ideal living space when your life revolves around the sun, sea and leisure — especially when the place is defined by the active coastal lifestyle that Pico de Loro Cove at Hamilo Coast is known for?
Anny Sy successfully brings this ideal through her vision. With an expansive coastline and the dynamic way of life inherent to Nasugbu's premiere leisure destination as her inspiration, the managing director of C/S Design Consultancy Anna Sy recreates a visual tapestry of what it means to live life by the coast.

Shared spaces
Shared spaces are definitely key elements that define a second home. Living rooms, patios and the kitchen become the focal point of any design endeavor. And the same philosophy was taken into consideration for the two-bedroom loft condo model unit that Sy set out to design.
In the living room, elements of sand and surf were evident in the selected color palette, where cool blue hues and light earth tones were complemented by textured lighting accents.
"Living by the coast means you get the best natural light as well, a feature that was best set off by the structure's high-ceilings and sliding patio doors," Sy shares.
To create a fluid interior flow, pale wood panels line the entire first floor all the way into the kitchen, where the color scheme remains clean and simple with an all-white kitchen.

Coastal retreat
Upstairs, Sy creates calming spaces that emphasize relaxing mornings by the sea. She explores the use of grey hues and textures while relying on the same wood paneling to ensure continuity and add a dash of warmth into each room.
"In effect, it recreates the ideals of nature inherent to Pico de Loro Cove at Hamilo Coast into a place which you can call your own-and what better way to showcase this than by bringing its natural elements into your bedroom?" Sy says.

A haven by the sea
While Anna Sy's vision is evident, she leaves just enough flexibility in her design to make sure that its future homeowners can inject their own personality into it. She expounds, "While the pieces all go together and can definitely stand on its own, its soon-to-be residents can easily add their individual touches to a layout and palette that is meant to complement a unique and personal aesthetic."
"It is, after all, going to be their home," Sy ends.
