IN/SIGHT: Ang Nawawala, which stars Dominic Roco in the offbeat role of the non-speaking Gibson Bonifacio (he’s not deaf or mute, and no spoiler here, you will find out), is an extraordinary film! And like anything amazing, it has a wacky story with an innovative treatment. So when you watch Ang Nawawala featuring Dawn Zulueta as directed by Marie Jemora, which is now screening, view it if you want to be convinced that local movies are not all fluff and icing. But be ready to be thrown off the edge of your seat (figuratively) and be jolted (pleasantly). This is Dominic’s best performance to date, which Cinemalaya predictably failed to recognize for its own comfort.

When it comes to stature and success, Sarah Geronimo and Toni Gongaza are equals. A clash of sorts should be unavoidable, but instead they complement. They have grown bigger in the eyes of people by keeping their feet on the ground despite all the triumphs.
This is because they share the same entertainment experiences. When they were starting out, Sarah lacked confidence about her skin and body, while Toni considered herself too thin. But they did not give up pursuing their entertainment ambitions. Instead, they decided to take positive action. UPDATE: Turning Chinese
The trip to Hong Kong by the Artista Academy scholars turned out to be a real holiday for two reasons: only they have had the chance to go abroad copared to participants of the current crop of star searches, and there was no Kick-out Night last Monday! Benjo must have breathed easier at Victoria’s Peak Gallery, the renowned tourist spot’s viewing deck, which was their first outing. He got the lowest grades in last week’s taped exam. This is the thing with Artista Academy. A scholar will always be at the bottom and top. There may be a tie, which the critics may choose to break.
From footages and photos of the Hong Kong trip, it looks like there are already pairings among the scholars, friendly or romantic. Although there is an official rule about male-female bonding, that can’t be helped among adrenalin-driven young people, who are cooped up most of the time. There are already buddies, walking mates, seatmates or even tell-tale cuddling mates. Before the contest is over, pairings will be clear even if they have to eliminate each other in order to win. Law of Demand and Supply operates here like the known savvy of Hong Kong merchants.
