QC policeman dismissed for cutting off Noy’s convoy

A Quezon City policeman must have realized now that he is no match to the elite presidential bodyguards as he had just been sacked for not yielding to a presidential convoy along Batasan Road in Quezon City yesterday morning.
No less than presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda spilled the news on what seemed to be a simple road altercation that cost Senior Police Officer 2 Ricardo Pascua’s career.
Calling Pascua an “arrogant” policeman, Lacierda, who wasn’t even at the place when the supposed altercation happened, said Pascua was relieved after obstructing the convoy of the President along Batasan Road in Quezon City yesterday morning.
He was sacked on the same day he committed the “offense.”
At a press briefing, Lacierda said Pascua was driving a red Tamaraw FX when he got entangled with the presidential convoy which he claimed was already on its way back to Malacañang from an earlier engagement somewhere in Lagro, also in Quezon City.
Aquino’s spokesman said  based on the account of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), the QC cop wanted to make a U-turn along Batasan Road. He was reportedly approached and told to wait until the convoy got past the area. However, Pascua refused, compelling the PSG motorcycle unit to carry him bodily.
“The policeman was quite arrogant in insisting that he be allowed to do a U-turn whereas the convoy was already going straight. In fact, we understand that he even showed the badge to the motorcycle cops who were escorting the convoy,” Lacierda said.
PSG chief Ramon Dizon said he was bothered by Pascua’s behavior as seen when he refused to give way even after seeing the presidential convoy traversing toward his direction. He said the QC cop should have respected it.
Dizon also admitted it was the PSG that dragged Pascua to the Quezon City police.
Lacierda, however, claimed Malacañang had nothing to do with the decision (to relieve Pascua) of Quezon City police chief Mario de la Vega, even as he explained it was “an administrative decision by the Quezon City police department.”
