NAIA officials hold Nepalese caught carrying shabu worth P14 million

Airport officials held a Nepalese for carrying 1.8 kilograms of high-grade methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from Thailand who arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Friday night.
Immigration authorities said Tamang Sun Bahador arrived from Bangkok Friday evening on board Philippine Airlines flight PR731.
The foreigner was cleared at the immigration counter but informed NAIA Customs district collector Tess Roque to inspect the visitor’s bag.
At the Customs examination area, the foreigner started acting suspiciously and was asked by Customs examiner Marius Landicho to open his travel bag.
Airport  examiner  discovered a false bottom where the crystalline substance was concealed.
A field test was performed on the substance which proved positive to be high-grade shabu.
The seized drug was estimated to have a street value of P14 million.
Bahador was later turned over to agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for filing of the necessary charges.   Conrado Ching
