26th National Coconut Week celebration on Aug. 30 to 31
Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Administrator Euclides Forbes bared the holding of the 26th National Coconut Week with the theme “Masaganang Kinabukasan Mula Sa Niyugang Inalagaan.” Forbes said given the vast geographical base of the industry, spanning Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and in consideration of the growing domestic market, the holding of the celebration will be in three focal coconut hubs. The highlight of the celebration will be at the PCA Central Office on Aug. 30 to 31 where traders from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will display and sell coco-based products. This annual event underscores the role of the industry as a vital economic portal of the country, with annual export earnings reaching almost $2 billion and providing livelihood activities to at least a third of the country’s population. Its excellent performance through the years has earned for the country the pride of being globally recognized as the coconut leader. Forbes said featured events will revolve around this year’s theme. Food Safety which has become a trading imperative and food security will be elaborated in lecture-seminars which will be complemented with actual demonstrations on processing technologies. This year’s celebration also will provide industry updates on research and coconut development. The Administrator added that the PCA will spearhead the celebration which pays tribute to the coconut as the Tree of Life as mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 142 signed by the late President Corazon Aquino in 1987.

Wake up healthy and happy with alkaline water
Waking up feeling truly happy and healthy is about reconnecting with your authentic self and having balance in mind, body and soul. These three need to work harmoniously together because an imbalance in one or more of these areas can negatively impact on your health and well-being. While there is really no panacea to every individual’s health problems, there are things you can do to help increase your well-being like drinking the so called “water of life,” which is alkaline water. But what is really this latest health fad called alkaline water? Alkaline water, or ionized water as it is also referred to, has a pH of approximately 8, normal water has a neutral pH, which is the number 7 on the scale. Water, depending on its source has the potential to be slightly acidic. Furthermore, our bodies rely on water for waste elimination and flushing toxins — ionized water enhances that process. Not only it carries nutrients and oxygen but it also increases the effectiveness and absorption rate of any supplement as they get delivered deep into your cells. As a true antioxidant, it fights against free radicals to support your overall wellness. Alkaline water advocate Ms. Ai-ai de las Alas said there is an urgent need to alkalize in order to reverse the negative impact of today’s lifestyle. Furthermore, cancer, chronic fatigue and many other illnesses thrive within an acidic body. Ionized water restores alkalinity and flushes acidic toxins out from the body leaving your blood clean and able to transport critical nutrients to the cells. Ai-ai is the endorser of the Izumi ionizer brand which was featured twice on Korina Sanchez’ show Rated K.
