EPD policemen ordered to cut down on rice consumption

Following the directive of National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) boss Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina for policemen to be fit to be able to adhere to his two-minute response to crimes, the Eastern Police District (EPD) has decided to require policemen to cut down on extra servings of rice.
According to EPD head Chief Supt. Miguel Laurel, this is meant to ensure that his men will be able to move quicker.
Laurel also ordered his men to coordinate more closely with village officials in maintaining peace and order.
Laurel was quoted as saying he also wanted his men to set aside at least half an hour for exercise a day to keep fit.
He said he does not want his men to adopt a sedentary lifestyle and gain weight.
He added this will help them comply with Espina’s directive to respond to crimes in their respective areas of responsibility within two minutes.
The EPD covers Marikina, Pasig, Mandaluyong and San Juan cities.
Areas covered by the EPD are also bracing for a possible increase in criminality as they host many commercial areas that may become busy during the Christmas shopping season.   Jason Faustino
