Fearing for their lives, the board of directors of Aman Futures Trading Philippines Inc. have turned themselves in for protective custody before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and agreed to cooperate with the ongoing government investigation in connection with the multi-billion ponzi scam, the Department of Justice (DoJ) said yesterday.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima identified the five board of directors as Leila Lim Gan, Eduard Lim, Wilanie Fuentes, Naezelle Rodriguez and Lurix Lopez. Another board member, Fernando Luna, has yet to surrender to authorities, De Lima added.
Their respective sworn statements will be submitted today before the 14-man special panel of investigating prosecutors at the start of preliminary investigation and would be treated as their reply to the numerous complaints that have been filed against them by Aman clients.
“I think what they can share is the flow of the investments and the assets of the entity. They have knowledge about the existing assets of the company,” the DoJ chief noted.
She said these information would be vital in the government’s effort to return the money of the thousands of victims of Aman, aside from the criminal prosecution of the respondents. Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Edna Valenzuela will determine who among the respondents in the large scale syndicated estafa may be utilized as a state witness.
