The 2012 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 GLS AT is presently
the 2011-2012 Car of The Year Philippines and also in other countries. Hyundai Motors in South Korea should be glad for a successful model launch.
This writer was privileged to test drive the Hyundai Elantra in its birth place last June 2011 and the variant tested had extras like moon roof, larger diameter alloy wheels, etc. and the test drive around South Korea was great, very comfortable ride, low noise level at extra-legal speeds but then again the road quality were not close to the roads we have locally and that was applicable with the numerous tunnels connecting roadways. Since in South Korea, they seem to be fond of boring tunnels, instead of blasting the mountains, the way it is done here.
Finally a test drive in our local shores and to this writer’s surprise, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 GLS AT performed well on our roads. The suspension stroke was firm yet comfortable, when tackling turns the body roll was kept to a minimum and the brake system with ABS was dependable with a shorter braking distance.
The ergonomically designed seats kept this writers bottom in place even at the tightest turns. While in traffic the cool air-conditioning system and the sound system on board kept the passengers calm and easy to please. The cabin space provided had enough head, leg and elbow room for all occupants. For mall rats who crave for mall sale, the trunk space allocated can help you spend more in shopping.
More and more Hyundai Elantra in all variants and in attractive colors available domestically, now seen on our roadways. Convince yourself by going to the nearest Hyundai showroom and test drive the present Car of The Year Philippines.
