A+ A A-

On the road and from a rear view mirror of a vehicle up front, it would not take long before it could zap from the side of vehicle and see it next in a petrol station with the driver taking a coffee break.
This writer is talking about the 2012 Kia Sorento EX 2.2 CRDi AT 2wd, built for drivers who would like excitement in their lives or for people who would like to reach their destinations ahead of time.
From the exterior, you will see a very decent and gentle looking vehicle but under the bonnet you will find a 2.2 Inline-4 DOHC 16-valve CRDi diesel engine with E-VGT that certainly boost with less turbo lag compared with just VGT. Pumping a maximum output of 190ps/3800rpm and a maximum torque of 44.5kg-m/1800-2500rpm, in layman’s term, it is simply- “SUPERFAST”. To put the Kia Sorento EX 2.2 CRDi AT 2wd to a full halt, the Kia Engineers installed front ventilated disc brakes and rear solid disc brakes with 4-channel and 4-sensor ABS. If and when the driver would like to drive economically the 6-speed automatic transmission can assist whole heartedly. While for the Enthusiast who would like to bring out the Tiger in them a shiftronic feature that when engaged can up or down shift from gears without a clutch, thus can help feel the engine brake on turns and on a straight away the engine revs smoothly.
Inside the vehicle sufficient elbow, leg and head room was obvious even this writer could seat in the third row. The full auto-dual zone air-conditioning system with strategically located air vents could cool the interior in seconds and the audio system delivered above par listening pleasure. The built-in reverse camera with the audio system was clear enough during day time use but for evening use the rear parking sensor assisted and thus avoiding an obstacle. The unit tested was not the flagship variant but in terms of amenities, it surely felt like one.
The test unit loaned to this writer had 18,000 plus kilometers logged in the odometer, but the unit still had the new car smell, no rattles, tight feel on the steering wheel similar to brand new units and definitely looks good. Thanks to Mr. Sonny Bendana-Marketing Senior Supervisor-Vehicle Sales Department and his team for meticulously maintaining the vehicles and doing their job, right.
