Aquino effects a minor shake-up new appointments, resignations

Malacañang has effected what is seen as a minor revamp in the government offices embarking on banking and finance, the civil service and the judicial body litigating cases filed against government officials.
In a press briefing, deputy presidential spokesman Abigail Valte announced the appointment of a new associate justice for the Sandiganbayan and a new commissioner to the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
On top of new appointments, President Aquino was also said to have accepted the resignation of Development Bank of the Philippines president and chief operating officer Francisco del Rosario.
Named as new associate justice of the Sandiganbayan was Amparo Cabotaje-Tang replacing Francisco Villaruz Jr.
Likewise appointed as CSC Commissioner for a term ending on February 2018 is Robert Martinez.
Other new presidential appointees include Enry Santos and Amado Vallejo Jr. as provincial board members in the provinces of Bulacan and Isabela.
Documents provided by Valte showed Tang had served as Assistant Solicitor General since 1994. She is also part-time faculty at the San Beda College of Law and the University of Santo Tomas.
Martinez, meanwhile, has been serving as deputy administrator for administration of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority since 2008; had served as director at the Department of Trade and Industry from 2002 to 2008; and was chief of the human resources division of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions from 1994 to 2002.
As for DBP boss del Rosario, Valte said that the President has already accepted the tender to step down. “I understand Mr. Del Rosario has reached retirement age and wishes to spend more time with his family,” Valte said in a text message to reporters on Tuesday.
Aquino formally accepted the government banking institution executive’s resignation July 4. However, del Rosario will have to remain at the DBP until September, when the resignation takes effect.
She  also disclosed other new designation that would see the transfer of Movie Television Review and Classification Board vice chair Lesley Jeanne Cordero to Malacañang. Cordero will be the newest addition to the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) where she’d be discharging functions of an Undersecretary.
Also appointed were Cathryne Jonne Licudine as new PCOO Assistant secretary, lawyer Joy Legaspi as Land Registration Authority Register of Deeds II, and Department of Education San Fernando Pampanga Administration Officer Ronnie Mallari as a member of the Teacher Education Council.              Fernan J.
