Pusher dies in shootout with PDEA agents

A drug pusher died on the spot after shooting it out with operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) who were trying to arrest him in a buy-bust operation in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan last Thursday.
PDEA Director General Jose Gutierrez Jr. said Asis Hadji Modior, a resident of Barangay Camantiles, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, was shot dead by agents of the PDEA Regional Office I under Director Roybel Sanchez after he opened fire at the lawmen in Barangay San Jose, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan in a buy-bust operation.
“Modior opened fire first and indiscriminately shot at the agents who were rushing toward him, so the agents were compelled to take cover and return fire at the suspect,” Gutierrez said, adding that the operation was legitimate.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound in his head after a 10-minute shootout.
Recovered from the suspect were three plastic sachets of shabu, a brown wallet containing assorted IDs and documents, a .45-caliber pistol with six live bullets, a motorcycle and a cellular phone which the suspect used in his illegal drug transactions.
“We are lucky that our agents were able to escape from the area unharmed. I commend them for their will, bravery and for risking their lives to weed out the drug menace in our communities,” Gutierrez said.
