Quiapo’s Black Nazarene image to visit Capiz town

For the third time, the noted Black Nazarene of Quiapo will once again visit Sapian town in Capiz this month.
Mayor Arturo Orosco and his wife, Dr. Evangeline Oñas Orosco, said they are facilitating the visit of the image for local devotees who cannot afford to go to Manila to see the Black Nazarene.
Orosco said that the image will arrive in Culasi on Aug. 17. Its motorcade will pass through the main thoroughfares in Roxas City and Ivisan before proceeding to Sapian.
Thousands of devotees are expected to see the Black Nazarene along the way to Sapian and to attend novenas and masses that will be held during the almost a week-long stay of the pilgrim image.
The pilgrim image previously visited Sapian in August 2008 and August 2010. The visit usually coincides with the birthday celebration of Orosco every Aug. 22.
The Orosco couple also facilitated the visit of other known religious statues that include Our Lady of Antipolo (2011), Bicol’s Our Lady of Peñafrancia (2009) and Pangasinan’s Our Lady of Manaoag (2007).
Last month, Sapian was declared as Pilgrimage Image Capital of Capiz through a Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution authored by board member Leobeth Delicana.
The SP approved the resolution in response to two Sapian Sangguniang Bayan resolutions seeking such recognition.    For the third time, the noted Black Nazarene of Quiapo will once again visit Sapian town in Capiz this month.
