Ex-Camarines gov facing graft charge surrenders to CIDG

A former governor from the Bicol region who is facing administrative charges has voluntarily surrendered to the police on Thursday morning.
Jesus Typoco Jr., former governor of Camarines Norte, decided to surrender to the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and face malversation charges filed against him.
Typoco is now held at the CIDG detention cell in Camp Crame.
He is reportedly accused of conspiring with then-provincial treasurer Lorna Coreses and schools division superintendent Ariston Villareal to release P300,000 for a “ghost project” involving the repair and maintenance of a computer room at the Daet Elementary School.
Graft investigators found that the project did not exist and the person who received the money, Ma. Rona Obusan, was not even connected with the public school or the Department of Education.
Meanwhile, Typoco’s lawyers asked the court to order a bail hearing on the case and to allow the former governor to remain in Camp Crame in the meantime. With Gina Peralta-Elorde
