The Team-Manila Philippines plastered Indonesia, 16-0, in Game 3 of the Asia Pacific Regional Tournament, Big League Softball to emerge as the overall champion in the regional elimination for the the Big League World Series set in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Filipinas swept the Indonesians in the best-of-five series and will represent the region in the World Series Set Aug. 2 to 8.
The Filipinas simply overwhelmed their rivals, scoring a 23-0 rout in the first game before blasting the same team, 27-0, in the next.
Rizza Bernardino hit the most number of homeruns witn four, followed by Michelle Lentija, Andrea May Gonzales and Gene Joy Parilla with one each.
The team was composed of seven girls from Adamson University, three from University of Santo Tomas and one each from the University of the East and Polytechnic University of the Philippines. They were led by the softball veterans who competed last year in the Big League World series, including Rizza Bernardino, Gene Joy Parilla, Michelle Lentija and Glesyl Opjer.
