BPI Foundation celebrates 40th anniversary with art exhibition series

BPI Foundation, Inc., the social innovation arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), is celebrating its 40th anniversary this 2018 with the launch of “Obra: Art Exhibition Series.” The art series, in partnership with Ayala Museum, will present masterpieces from the bank’s extensive private art collection.
The first “Obra” exhibit, titled “Pagpugay,” will run from March 6 to 25 at the third floor exhibition halls of Ayala Museum. It will display artworks that manifest the deep sense of respect that Filipinos have for families, a characteristic that helped shape how the bank forges relationship with its clients, employees, partners, and shareholders. The second exhibit is scheduled for June, with a patriotic theme about Philippine heritage to commemorate the country’s independence.
Prominent Filipino artists that will be featured in the “Obra” art series include National Artists Fernando Amorsolo, Benedicto Cabrera ( BenCab), Hernando Ocampo, Jose Joya, award-winning artist Mauro Malang Santos, and world-renowned glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, among others.
“BPI has made its mark not only as a financial institution but also as a corporate art patron,” said Maricris San Diego, BPI Foundation executive director. “‘Obra’ is BPI Foundation’s way of expressing the social impact it has diligently fostered for the past four decades. Continuously working on cultivating hope, creating change, and shaping opportunities for its partner communities, the foundation has become like an artist who consistently works to craft a piece masterfully.”
“The ‘Obra’ art series is curated to showcase expressions of the Filipino experience which can speak for the bank’s integrity, loyalty, concern for community, respect, and teamwork— inherent values that enable BPI’s commitment to economic growth and nation-building,” added Mariles Gustilo, Ayala Museum director.
