The crazy race: Party to the finish

07/16/2008

It’s a race and a party like no other. City Kart Racing (CKR), the country’s premier indoor karting facility, goes wild and crazy with the staging of Manila 701 — The Crazy Race 2nd edition on July 19 and 20, at CKR at the West Service Road. South Superhighway, Sucat, Parañaque. Manila 701 is an endurance race that will have participating teams complete 701 laps with no definite time duration. The “crazy race” part comes into play when drivers run into unusual obstacles that don’t normally happen in a real race track, but do happen in real life. Jean-Marc “Jeff” Freihuber, managing director of City Kart Racing and a former youth karting champion in France, promises lots of surprises that will test the drivers’ skills. “With cool and awesome special effects, we will recreate extreme weather and road conditions - from typhoons, to volcanic eruptions, landslides, strong rain, and blackouts. To add more fun, we are introducing new challenges: extreme traffic jams, heavy ash fall, surprising detours, and sleet showers (ice pellets). Drivers will have to bear and deal with these conditions during the race while keeping their focus to win,” he says. The race will start at 10 p.m. .on Saturday, July 19, and will run non-stop until Sunday, July 20. While the action is ongoing at the race tracks, another type of excitement will brew off the tracks for spectators.

Live bands headlined by Sinosikat and Cosmic Love will entertain the party crowd, along with Club DJs Darryl and Stefan.
