Wireless and beautiful

If you’re one of the many who lug around their bulky laptops anywhere they go, then you’d find comfort (and respite) in one of Acer’s newest offerings: the all-new, Internet-centric Acer Aspire One.

Granted it’s really small — maybe smaller than your average notebook — and weighs less than one kilo, but this baby not only gives any laptop a run for its money, it also introduces a whole new meaning to the words “chic mobility.”

Dainty as it may look, the Aspire One provides snappy Internet access anywhere, anytime, minus the hassle of occasional shoulder pains (really, lugging around those heavy laptops can take its toll on our shoulders). And what’s more, it is deliciously stylish with two different styles and colors to choose from: seashell white and sapphire blue.

Designed to give you fast and efficient online services, the Aspire One has reduced its startup and shutdown times to the minimum with its Linpus Linux Lite operating system. Despite its compact dimensions of 249 x 170 x 29 mm, it still maintains a full-sized keyboard for easy typing, a far cry from other compact notebooks which make typing a real work.

Although it has a reduced LCD size of 8.9 inches, the Aspire One still provides a perfect viewing experience without sacrificing the clarity and is complemented with a 300-kilobyte pixel camera.

However beautiful a thing is on the outside we all know that what matters most is on the inside. Well, the good news is Acer Aspire One is a beauty through and through. It boasts of the newest in processor technology care of Intel, the world’s biggest processor manufacturer, through its Intel Atom N270 processor (1.6GHz, 533MHz FSB, 512 megabyte L2 cache), not to mention its mobile Intel 945 GSE chipset.

But don’t be deceived by its cute factor, aside from connectivity and mobility, Aspire One comes with strength and power, to boot! Its storage capacity, even under its reduced dimensions, is 1GB memory (onboard 512 megabytes plus 1 x 512 megabytes module) plus an eight gigabyte Solid State Disc (SSD) with expansion capability using an extension SD card or up to 80 gigabyte hard drive.

“All these years, Acer has been all about empowering people,” says Manuel Wong, general manager of Acer Philippines, during the launch of the brand’s newest lines of notebooks and desktops at the Crowne Plaza. “You have seen how our products have developed in terms of features and style, how Acer has evolved over time. It is our greatest passion to provide you with the best experience through the company’s continuous innovations.”

Aside from the Aspire One, Acer also officially introduced the Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue, an extension of the extremely popular Gemstone brand; the Acer Aspire Predator G7700, Acer’s offering to the higher-end gaming PC market; and lastly, Acer’s revitalized desktop range featuring the Acer Aspire M1641 and M5641.

“At Acer, we develop tools that are usually useful in the real world,” enthuses Wong.

True enough, with Acer’s innovations and a sincere interest in their consumers, whether about multimedia, lifestyle, connectivity, fashion, productivity or even gaming, the barrier between people and technology is slowly diminishing. With laptops and notebooks becoming as lightweight as a purse, these gadgets will, in no time, likely become a fixture in our daily lives.
