Cops nab 3 colleagues charged with extortion

Santos 03/13/2009 The Manila Police District (MPD) has arrested three of their colleagues for allegedly extorting P66,000 cash and other valuables from a Filipino-Chinese trader in Binondo, Manila. The erring policemen were identified as SPO1 Ferico Macasikay; SPO2 Anthony Blanco, and SPO2 Jaime Acusin, all assigned to District Mobile Patrol Unit (DMPU). Their alleged victim was identified as Noel Sy, 30, married, buy-and-sell agent of 1152 C. M. Recto Ave., Binondo. In his report, Supt. Nelson Yabut, chief of the MPD-Station 11 (Binondo), said the incident happened at 10:30 a.m. inside the electronics store of the victim’s stepfather Emmanuel Reyes at 1152 C.M. Recto Ave. Sy told investigators he was tending the store when the suspects arrived. The policemen reportedly accused the victim of selling stolen items and threatened he was facing charges. The suspects then confiscated the Asus Laptop (P14,000); Philipis DVD player (P8,000); Hyundai Karaoke DVD player (P10,000); two Sony PSP (P18,000) and four Adaptor (P6,000), and loaded them in their MPD mobile car with numbers 363. The suspects even demanded P10,000 cash from the victim in exchange for his freedom. After taking the amount, the suspects left the place along with the seized items. The victim then immediately reported the incident to MPD headquarters. After learning of the incident, MPD director Chief Supt. Roberto Rosales immediately ordered the disarming of the three policemen and their arrest.  Back to top
