A career official of the Land Transportation Office was appointed as director of the LTO-National Capital Region (NCR) office, the highest revenue generating agency of the LTO nationwide. Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza approved the designation of Camilo Guarin as the new regional director of the LTO-NCR. LTO Chief Arturo Lomibao welcomed Guarin’s appointment as he expressed confidence that the experience in public service, expertise and dedication of Guarin would enable him to accomplish his duties and functions if not surpass his past record. “We have to commend Director Guarin for his contribution to the agency for the past years as shown by his dynamic performance and high sense of professionalism. He could be an inspiration to other middle-level officials aspiring for higher positions in the agency,” Lomibao said. Guarin, who survived an ambush last month, replaced former LTO-NCR Director Ricardo Tan who resigned from the post. Guarin rose from the LTO ranks having been with the agency for almost three decades and has been recognized both by his officers and colleagues as one of the most hardworking and committed officials of the LTO. Prior to his appointment, Guarin served as assistant regional director in the LTO-NCR office for eight years and played critical role as chairman of various committees such as the Stradcom-LTO Joint Interconnectivity Committee, Pre-qualification Bids and Awards Committee, LTO-NCR, Regional Administrative Action Board, LTO-NCR, LTO-CO Special Bids and Awards Committee as well as the National Acceptance Committee of the LTO-IT project. Guarin, for his part, urged his staff and personnel at the LTO-NCR office to help him pursue the mandate and goals of the LTO and continue to strive for excellence in their respective duties and functions in the regional office.
