Caretaker kills owner of resort in Valenzuela

Police hauled off to jail a man said to be responsible for the death of a 70-year-old resort owner after he  admitted to the killing Monday afternoon in Valenzuela City.
Initial report said the body of Maximo Diaz Sr. was discovered inside his room in Buenas Diaz Resort in Barangay Marulas last Sunday by Carlos Angeles, 22, the resort caretaker.
Valenzuela police deputy chief for operation Supt. Rey Medina said at first, the family believed that Diaz suffered heart attack since he was suffering from an illness.
However, investigators noticed hematoma and contusions on his face and neck which prompted Senior Insp. Glenn Calabio, the chief of investigators, to order a deeper probe.
During interrogation, police noticed the strange behavior of Angeles until he admitted the killing but said it was unintentional.
Angeles told police he punched the victim when he refused to lend him P500 and hit his head with a hard object.
When frisked, police recovered from Angeles’ pocket P40,000 he stole from the victim.
A case of robbery with homicide will be filed by the police against Angeles before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
