Drug pusher slain in shootout with lawmen in Caloocan

An alleged drug pusher, who utilized his house as a drug den, was killed during a clash with lawmen while his live-in partner and his cohort were arrested Thursday afternoon in Caloocan City.
Reiner Legaspi, of legal age, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the body while his live-in partner Avbilin Ali, 18, and Majid Abedin, 35, were arrested inside their unnumbered house in Barangay 188, Tala, local police chief Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna said.
Bersaluna added Police Community Precinct 4 commander Chief Insp. Timothy Aniway earlier had received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding the rampant selling of illegal drugs inside the couple’s house, prompting him and his men to proceed to the area around 3:30 p.m. to verify the report.
Reports said Legaspi, upon sensing the presence of lawmen while standing in front of his house, pulled out his firearm and opened fire at SPO1 Ronaldo Ambatang who managed to cover on a concrete post.
An exchange of gunfire ensued until the suspect was hit in the body that resulted in his untimely death, Bersaluna, quoting a spot report, said.
Recovered from his possession were a .38 caliber revolver and two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
An improvised shotgun or sumpak loaded with one bullet, two pieces of plastic sachets of shabu and drug user’s paraphernalia were recovered from Legaspi’s cohorts.
