S. American drug cartels are now in RP – Duterte

South American drug cartels have reached the Philippines despite President Duterte’s war on illegal drugs.

The Chief Executive, in a speech in Tarlac City, revealed yesterday the country has become a market of cocaine smuggled from the continent infamous for widespread narcotic trafficking.
“Watch out, cocaine is coming in very fast. Mexican drug cartels from Mexico and the rest of South America are already here,” Mr. Duterte said.
“So we are dealing now with cocaine and shabu,” he stressed.
Mr. Duterte said even the United States is alarmed by the proliferation of illegal drugs creeping in its borders.
Amid foreign criticisms and pressures on his drug war, the President said he is all the more pressed to intensify his campaign.
Not even the charges slapped on him at the International Criminal Court (ICC) will put brakes on his drug war, Mr. Duterte stressed.
“I take full legal responsibility in the drug war. I’m here to protect my country,” the President said.
“I believe if I stop this crusade, it will have compromised the country and the next generation, then it will have been my failure,” he added.
Moreover, the Chief Executive reiterated his warning to government officials who are in cahoots with drug syndicates.
“If you make your public office a platform for drug distribution and you kill government people, I will really kill you,” he said.
Two local executives jotted on his list of politicians assailed to be working with drug traffickers have already been gunned down: Albuera town Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. and Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr.
The President also cited his rage on former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog who has gone into after receiving threats from Mr. Duterte himself.
