‘Security for Asean Summit a success’

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) yesterday declared as a “success” the security for the ongoing Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit, citing no major untoward incident has been recorded so far.

Director Oscar Albayalde, NCRPO chief, commended the policemen who were deployed to secure specific areas and expressed gratitude to the public for its cooperation.
“Having no major crime recorded during Asean Summit is indeed a success. As committed, we will continue to perform our duty at our best in order to make this 31st Asean Summit, another history of success,” Albayalde said.
Yesterday, the second day of the summit, the NCRPO chief personally inspected rally areas and billeting places of policemen to ensure their morale is high.
According to Albayalde, the troops remained “strong and inspired” in performing their tasks.
Albayalde also provided his final guidance to the anti-riot policemen for the final day of the summit today.
Intensified security measures are still implemented in the meeting venues and adjacent areas to ensure that there will be no untoward incidents.
Check point has been set up to maximize security in the venue for the Asean Summit.
Albayalde also conducted corner to corner inspection on the possible routes of rallyists to ensure maximum security for the Asean leaders, delegates and the public at large.
Last Monday, policemen and rallyists clashed in Manila after anti-riot cops prevented anti-US activists from marching to the venue for the summit meeting, whose holding they are protesting, along with the attendance of US President Donald Trump.
Members of militant groups affiliated with Bayan wanted to hold a rally in front of the Philippine International Convention Center where the opening of the Asean Summit was held but they were blocked by policemen with the aid of firetrucks.
Forcing themselves to pass through the government cordon, the rallyists clashed with the policemen. More than 70 people, including policemen, were injured during the confrontation.

I have a webpage about this same subject matter and I have to tell you, this is certainly good stuff. It's given me several more ideas for my own content that I would never have thought about. Whoever wrote this is doing a first-rate job.
