Swindler claiming ties to Duterte, other gov’t officials arrested in QC

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday announced the arrest of a big-time swindler facing a string of estafa cases in Mandaluyong and Parañaque courts.
NBI-Special Action Unit (SAU) head Vicente de Guzman identified the suspect as Lino Espinosa Lim Jr. who was arrested on June 16, 2017 in a coffee shop in Quezon city after continued surveillance and monitoring by the agency’s operatives.
De Guzman said that based on the information referred to the NBI in March of this year, the suspect identified himself as having close ties and connections with high-ranking government officials such as President Duterte, Senate President Koko Pimentel and lawyer Fred Lim of Pagcor.
De Guzman added that Lim who has a gift of “sweet tongue” was able to convince his latest victim to invest a total of P14,500,00 in various government projects and earn high interest.
When his victim made follows-up on the suspect, he kept on giving alibis and eventually could not find him anymore. But record check on Lim also showed that he has standing warrants of arrest both for estafa before the regional trial courts of Mandaluyong and Parañaque.
Three other complaints have surfaced and filed their respective complaints against Lim where a total of P10 million were obtained from them using the same above-stated scheme.
NBI-SAU operatives have devised a number of entrapment operations against suspect Lim, but he did not appear on the set of occasions. Continued surveillance and monitoring of the subject were conducted by operatives until on June 16, 2017, through the information provided to the NBI, team of NBI-SAU operatives tailed suspect Lim from Cainta, Rizal until he reached Quezon City where he was arrested.
