In Time for the Summer Drives

Soon, long weekends are expected and it's the summer season. Due to climate change, rains do pour during summer days. This vehicle from Suzuki Motors, is great during normal to dry road conditions and a plus during wet road conditions. The 2018 Suzuki Vitara 1.6 GLX 6AT is available with front wheel drive. Urban SUV owners prefer this type of vehicle, for the peripheral view, from the high-seat height and high 185mm ground clearance, as we all experience, that when a heavy downpour falls over the Metro, expect flooding on the roads, especially those located in low lying areas.
The 2018 Suzuki Vitara tested was pulled by a 1586cc M16A 4-Inline 16-Valve VVT petrol engine with multi-point injection system that could produce, a maximum output of 115HP / 6000rpm and with a maximum torque of 156Nm / 4400rpm matched to a smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and paddle shifters. To position the Suzuki Vitara to a halt, front and rear ventilated disc brakes were standard with (EBD) electronic brake force distribution, (BA) brake assist and the (ABS) anti-lock brake system. If in case, you missed the curve and still managed to take it scot-free, you have the (ESP) electronic stability program, on the overall view. On inclined roadways, backing up is a thing of the past, with hill-hold control, on every start. The 215/55R17 tubeless tires mounted on 17' machine polished 5-spoke alloys gives the Suzuki Vitara a sporty exterior look. Extra convenience was provided for long distance travelers with a cruise control system, that could be activated, with the control button on the right side of the steering wheel. If you need to park facing the wall, or need to do a parallel style parking, front and rear parking sensors with a rear camera viewed from the 10" monitor, will assist the driver with …. gusto.
Inside the Suzuki Vitara, you have all the convenient switches for the windows, locks and side view mirrors plus USB and 12-volt outlets for charging gadgets that were all within reach. The instrument cluster was well lit and very informative, but the real thing that caught this writer's attention, was the center based clock in analogue mode, that was familiar to a European luxury brand SUV. At the helm of the driver-seat, you could anticipate the traffic ahead but, in the event, that you get stuck in traffic, the cool climate control air-conditioning and the above listening pleasure of the huge, 10" screen size touchscreen android infotainment with navigation, audio and video system wired to 6-speakers, that could add to your patience, during long road trips. Another cool feature standard to this variant, is the panoramic roof, that slides, tilts and gives a delightful view, of whatever it could deliver. Another use for the panoramic roof, is when you park your vehicle under the hot sun, before you have your passengers enter, simply switch on the ignition, then turn on the aircon and have the panoramic roof on slide position, the heat inside the cabin could dissipate faster. This writer, also had on-board, an AVT AD801 portable car camcorder, to document everything up front. Still inside the cabin, with 6-airbags for added safety, and for comfort, the combination leather and suede upholstery on the ergonomic seats. There were enough leg, head and elbow room in the cabin, plus front seats recline individually with lift, to give pleasure to front passenger's desired seating position. While the rear seat could fold 60/40 for added boot space. Even on a rainy night, the LED projector type headlamps density with front fog lamps combined, can beam with enough density, the road ahead, for a safer drive. An auto dim rear view mirror, would be well appreciated, by eye sensitive drivers. To be more visible to other motorists on the roadways, (DRL) daytime running lights, came standard too.
Over all the Suzuki Vitara 1.6 GLX 6AT, this writer is glad that Suzuki still uses the (AT) automatic transmission and improved it, rather than the other options available, now with its size and power plant combined, it was a nimble daily ride, ideal for our roads in and out of the city, rain or shine. Most of all, pricewise marked at….value for money.
