Mazda Skyactiv Diesel Drive to Anilao Batangas

The much awaited Mazda Skyactiv D Technology is now available in the Mazda 6 and Mazda CX5 AWD. A Discovery drive was conducted from Mazda Makati then headed southbound to Anilao Batangas via Slex and Star tollways, here Mazda vehicles were up for test by Journalists from the motoring beat and were divided into two groups, for easier crowd control. Although, again not all drivers have the same driving skills, so there were also down time and some call of nature breaks.
The Mazda 6 and Mazda CX5 Skyactiv D had a power plant of a 2191cc 4-inline DOHC 16-Valve with I-Stop twin turbo intercooler diesel engine matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode on the floor and paddle shift for the Mazda 6. The maximum power delivered, was a lusty 175ps/4500rpm and the maximum torque of a whopping 420nm/2000rpm now that will keep the smile on the driver’s face for quite a while.
The handling was very typical of a Mazda, it gripped well on the road even at tight turns and that goes the same with the higher ground clearance of the Mazda CX5 AWD.
Upon reaching the destination at Anilao Discovery Bay Dive and Leisure Resort, all participants had the option to go diving, try the Jet Ski and other water activities but for others having a photo shoot up in the mountain area were the thing to do, then for some a full body massage was the preferred choice.
The Mazda Skyactiv Diesel even at high speeds in the uphill twisties portion of the road, smoke from the exhaust pipe was never seen, perhaps the Skyactiv diesel technology rated at EURO 6 that could run on EURO 4 must really be “Clean Diesel.”
