The 6 with Twin Turbo Diesel Power

In the mid 90’s was the first time this writer experienced to drive a Mazda vehicle from the basic Mazda 323 1.3L to the Mazda 626 sedan and hatchback, even with a lower horsepower petrol engine the maximum torque was always above par. The precise handling of Mazda vehicles seems to be getting better and better.
Now the Mazda 6 2.2L is a vehicle to be DRIVEN. Once seated at the helm of the driver’s seat, setting the perfect driving position was made easy with electric powered knobs plus seat memory. The feel of the leather wrapped steering wheel was great and the diameter was just right for quick maneuvers. All the switches and knobs seem to be in the proper locations, even the lever for the bonnet and fuel lid was in an angle that could be visible when seated. When inside the cabin, the head, leg and elbow room was of abundance, it can fit five adult size Filipinos comfortably with height adjustable headrests for all to prevent whiplash in case of a collision or simply to rest your head on a journey. The leather interior creates a higher level of class and the dark shade of choice made blemishes invincible. Dual front, side and curtain airbags were included as standard and for the stow compartments they were strategically located inside the cabin for a clutter free interior. The instrument cluster kept the driver not only informed of the vehicles condition but also keeps the driver awake on day and night journeys with the bright lights illuminated from the cluster. The automatic dual zone climate control air-conditioning with rear ventilation louvers and the more than listening pleasure audio system with AM, FM, CD, MP3, WMA, AAC, AUX+USB and TFT color display wired to eleven Bose speakers strategically located inside the cabin can keep the occupants cool and stress free.
To start the Mazda 6 2.2D was simple since this variant had the push start system, just step on the brake pedal then push the start button located near the right side of the steering wheel. If the brake pedal was not depressed and the start button was pressed the accessory slot will be activated and the radio could be operated. On this variant front and rear parking sensors with camera are standard that can aid and prevent collision when parking. The Mazda 6 2.2 was pulled by a SKYACTIV D 2191cc DOHC 4-inline 16-valve twin turbo diesel engine that could produce 175hp/4500rpm and a maximum torque of 420Nm/2000rpm bolted on to a smooth shifting gate type 6-speed SKYACTIV Drive automatic transmission with paddle shift and floor shift manual mode. Whether driving in or out of town the power produced by the engine was sufficient for daily and hyper use with hardly any delay in engine response. To gain further fuel economy a Mazda i-ELOOP regenerative braking system combined with the i-STOP idling stop system are standard that can achieve better mileage by at least 10%. Stopping capability was achieved with front ventilated disc brakes and rear solid disc brakes with ABS and EBD. While the LED brake lights are quick to glow to further warn the vehicle behind. The ride was firm yet comfortable and when taking a turn at extra-legal speeds the grip of the OEM 225/45 R19 tires mounted on 19 inch alloy wheels kept the vehicle on track with very minimal body roll and the assistance from the dynamic stability control, which is available on this model. For those motorists caught between a sports car and a sedan this is definitely a vehicle to be driven.
