Three players fined for roles in NBA melee

NEW YORK — Milwaukee Bucks center Greg Monroe, Los Angeles Lakers swingman Nick Young and Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell were each issued fines Sunday for their roles in a National Basketball Association third-quarter scuffle on Friday (Saturday in Manila)
Monroe was fined $35,000 for shoving Young, who was fined $25,000 for initiating the altercation by shoving Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon.
Russell was fined $15,000 for entering the altercation and pushing Monroe in the skirmish, which saw all three players issued technical fouls and ejected with 36 seconds remaining in the third quarter of the Bucks' 107-103 road win over the Lakers.
Several other players were involved in the melee, which had officials conferring for several minutes before issuing punishments.
The defeat officially ended any chance the Lakers (20-49) could reach the NBA playoffs, stretching their post-season drought to a record four consecutive campaigns.
