UST, La Salle neck and neck in football race

University of Santo Tomas and La Salle, after blasting separate foes on Sunday, are now locked in a tight race for the No. 4 slot in the UAAP Season 79 men's football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Growling Tigers overwhelmed Adamson University, 4-1, while the Green Archers blanked University of the East, 2-0.
On Saturday, Ateneo subdued National University, 1-0, to remain on top of the table with 23 points, while defending champion University of the Philippines bested Far Eastern University, 1-0, to level its victims in second place with 18.
UST moved up to 13 points in fourth spot, two clear off De La Salle, which now has 11.
The Bulldogs, who placed No. 4 in the fourth place, dropped to sixth with 10 points, while the Falcons and the Red Warriors stayed at five and three points, respectively.
